4-year no-fault nationwide warranty — includedOn gas engines in non-commercial use, at no extra charge. The builder’s standard cover is 3 years, parts only. Every gas engine we sell includes the 4-year no-fault warranty with labour, at no extra charge.
- “No fault” means we do not investigate why it failed — if a covered engine fails inside the term, it is covered.
- Labour is paid up to CAD $95.00 per hour — a cap on the rate, not a flat payout — and only for the remove-and-replace hours in the Mitchell labour guide. Diagnostic time is covered up to 2 hours, and fluids up to CAD $200.00. Towing and a rental car are not covered. Anything not listed here needs to be agreed with us before the work starts.
- The 4 years start the day the engine is installed, and a claim needs proof that a professional shop installed it.
- Unlimited kilometres, and no deductible.
- Call us before any warranty work starts, so we can authorise it. Labour paid on a repair we were not asked about first is not covered.
- A claim starts with a call to us. We file it with the manufacturer, and the manufacturer pays it.
Diesel engines, and engines put into commercial service, are not covered by this 4-year warranty — the terms vary by engine, so call us for the terms on the unit you’re pricing.

Mitsubishi 6G7 V6 (3.0 / 3.5 / 3.8)
Also known as: 6G7 series, 6G72, 6G74, 6G75, 3.0 V6, Cyclone V6, 3000GT twin-turbo
Overview & history
The 6G7 is Mitsubishi's core V6 family and one of the longest-serving Japanese engine designs of its era, running from 1986 into the 2010s. It launched as the 6G72, a 3.0-litre 60-degree V6, and grew over the years into 3.5-litre (6G74) and 3.8-litre (6G75) versions. Mitsubishi used it in almost everything with more than four cylinders: the Montero and Montero Sport, the Diamante, the Galant, the Eclipse and the 3000GT, where a twin-turbocharged 6G72 made 300 horsepower and gave the car all-wheel drive supercar aspirations. Just as importantly for North American parts counters, Chrysler bought enormous numbers of these engines. The 3.0-litre 6G72 was the V6 in Chrysler and Dodge minivans through the 1990s, and it also appeared in the Sebring, Stratus, Dodge Stealth and Chrysler's Mitsubishi-built captive imports. That is why a Dodge Caravan and a Mitsubishi Montero can need the same long block.
Specs & engineering
- •Cast-iron block with aluminum cylinder heads on most versions.
- •60-degree V6; belt-driven camshafts across the family.
- •Built in SOHC 12-valve, SOHC 24-valve and DOHC 24-valve head configurations depending on version and market.
- •Three displacements in this catalog: 3.0L (6G72), 3.5L (6G74) and 3.8L (6G75).
- •The 3000GT VR-4 and Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo used a twin-turbocharged, intercooled DOHC 6G72 making about 300 hp.
- •Naturally aspirated output ranged from roughly 141 hp on early 12-valve 3.0s to about 260 hp on the 3.8.
Generations & variants
- •6G72 3.0L (1986-2005): the volume engine — Montero, Montero Sport, Diamante, Galant, Eclipse, and Chrysler/Dodge minivans, Sebring and Stratus.
- •6G72 Twin Turbo (1991-1999): the DOHC twin-turbo used in the 3000GT VR-4 and Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo.
- •6G74 3.5L (1993-2006): the larger V6 in the Montero and Montero Sport.
- •6G75 3.8L (2003-2011): the final development, used in the Endeavor, Galant, Eclipse and Raider.

Known issues & fixes
Timing belt service on a belt-driven V6
What to watch for: No belt history. On DOHC versions in particular, belt failure is expensive.
The fix: Replace belt, tensioner, idlers and water pump as a set at the published interval.
Did you know?
- ★The twin-turbocharged 6G72 in the 3000GT VR-4 made 300 hp and drove all four wheels — remarkable numbers for a Japanese production car in 1991.
- ★Chrysler bought so many 3.0-litre 6G72s that the engine became one of the most common V6s in North American minivans through the 1990s.
