4-year no-fault nationwide warranty — includedOn gas engines in non-commercial use, at no extra charge. The builder’s standard cover is 3 years, parts only. Every gas engine we sell includes the 4-year no-fault warranty with labour, at no extra charge.
- “No fault” means we do not investigate why it failed — if a covered engine fails inside the term, it is covered.
- Labour is paid up to CAD $95.00 per hour — a cap on the rate, not a flat payout — and only for the remove-and-replace hours in the Mitchell labour guide. Diagnostic time is covered up to 2 hours, and fluids up to CAD $200.00. Towing and a rental car are not covered. Anything not listed here needs to be agreed with us before the work starts.
- The 4 years start the day the engine is installed, and a claim needs proof that a professional shop installed it.
- Unlimited kilometres, and no deductible.
- Call us before any warranty work starts, so we can authorise it. Labour paid on a repair we were not asked about first is not covered.
- A claim starts with a call to us. We file it with the manufacturer, and the manufacturer pays it.
Diesel engines, and engines put into commercial service, are not covered by this 4-year warranty — the terms vary by engine, so call us for the terms on the unit you’re pricing.

Chrysler World Gasoline Engine 2.0 / 2.4 (GEMA)
Also known as: World Engine, GEMA, 2.0 World, 2.4 World, ED3, ED6, ED8
Overview & history
The World Gasoline Engine was the product of the Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance — a joint venture between Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Hyundai formed to develop a shared modern four-cylinder that each partner could adapt. Chrysler's versions were built at a purpose-built plant in Dundee, Michigan, and entered service in 2007. Unlike the iron-block engines they replaced, these are all-aluminum, twin-cam, chain-driven designs with variable valve timing, which made them lighter and considerably more refined than the older 2.4 EDZ. Chrysler used the 2.0 and 2.4 versions across a wide swath of its lineup during the Daimler and early Fiat years: the Dodge Caliber and Avenger, the Chrysler Sebring and 200, and Jeep's Compass and Patriot. The 2.4 also served in the Dodge Journey. The family was eventually superseded by the Tigershark and MultiAir engines as Fiat's powertrains took over.
Specs & engineering
- •All-aluminum construction — aluminum block and aluminum twin-cam 16-valve head.
- •Chain-driven double overhead camshafts, replacing the timing belt used by the older 2.4 EDZ.
- •Dual variable valve timing on most versions.
- •Two displacements in this catalog: 1,998 cc (2.0L) and 2,360 cc (2.4L).
- •Balance shafts are used on the 2.4 to control secondary vibration.
- •Typical output was about 156-158 hp for the 2.0 and roughly 172-173 hp for the 2.4.
Generations & variants
- •2.0L (2007-2014): base engine in the Dodge Caliber, Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot.
- •2.4L (2007-2015): the volume engine in the Avenger, Sebring, 200, Journey, Compass and Patriot.
- •Sister versions of the same basic design were also produced by Mitsubishi and Hyundai under the alliance, each with their own calibration and accessories.
