A grey RTV silicone gasket maker formulated for differentials and transfer cases, where the friction modifiers in gear oil can break down ordinary RTV. It can form a gasket on its own or seal a cut gasket, and it is rated for continuous use from -54°C to 232°C (-65°F to 450°F). Not for head gaskets or parts in contact with gasoline.
Permatex Gear Oil RTV Gasket Maker is a specialty gasket maker that is specially formulated to withstand the harsh gear oil environment found in differentials and transfer cases, ensuring a leak-proof seal. Because gear oil has friction modifiers that break down normal RTV and cause leaking, this specialty silicone has been tested to OEM specifications to ensure complete sealing. Gear Oil RTV Gasket Maker seeks and seals leak paths that cut gaskets cannot and can also be used to seal cut gaskets.

Cut nozzle to desired bead size gaskets are best formed using a 1/16″ to 1/4″ (2 to 6 mm) bead. A 1/8" bead is usually sufficient for most applications.
