A thread repair kit for stripped, worn or damaged M12x1.25 metric fine threads, so the original-size fastener can be reused. The carded kit holds 6 stainless steel inserts (18.0 mm long), the matching HeliCoil tap (4944-12) and an installation tool (4640-12). A 31/64 in drill is needed and is not included.

Warnings
- Drill out the damaged threads with the drill size given on the kit (31/64 in), deep enough for the insert length and the bolt or screw used
- Use the HeliCoil tap supplied in the kit and check the size on its shank; tap deep enough for the insert length and the bolt or screw used
- Wind the insert in with the supplied installation tool until the top coil is 1/4 - 1/2 turn into the tapped thread
- Remove the tang so the bolt can pass fully through the insert: put the square (unchamfered) end of a punch on the tang and strike sharply
